PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY 3 - LOWER COURSE
The river study forms a unit of study in preparation for the final GG02 exam. Students investigate the changes in river characteristics with distance downstream.
Depth and width of channel were measured at 24 gauging points taken at regular intervals downstream. Can you see any downstream changes in river characteristics from the photographs? Look for meandering, increasing width and depth of channel.
The photographs begin upstream at guaging point 1. At point 12 a tributary joins the main stream.
